Terms of Service
Last Updated: April 21, 2026
Welcome to bightforge.com. These Terms of Service govern your use of our website and the digital products provided by Burton & Company LLC. By using our site or purchasing our files, you agree to these terms. We believe in keeping things simple.
1. The Maker License (What You Can & Cannot Do)
When you purchase a single knot export or a knot collection, you are purchasing a license to use the files, not the underlying copyright. We built these tools for makers, so our commercial license is designed to let you build your business.
- You CAN: Use the downloaded files (SVGs, PNGs, etc.) for both personal and commercial projects. You can engrave them, print them on physical merchandise, incorporate them into client work, and sell the physical items you manufacture using our designs.
- You CANNOT: Resell, redistribute, sub-license, or share the raw digital files. You cannot bundle our SVGs, images, or ZIP files into your own digital downloads, stock vector libraries, or digital asset packs.
2. Intellectual Property
The website design, site code, and the client-side knot-compiling engine that powers bightforge.com are the exclusive intellectual property of Burton & Company LLC. You agree not to scrape, reverse-engineer, decompile, or use automated bots to access or exploit our compilation engine or site architecture.
3. Purchasing & Merchant of Record
Our website acts as the storefront and file generator, but the actual sales process is managed by our Merchant of Record, Paddle. When you make a purchase, Paddle handles the transaction, billing, and global tax compliance. By purchasing a product, you also agree to the Paddle Buyer Terms.
4. Limitation of Liability
Our digital files and generating engine are provided "as-is" without warranties of any kind. While we strive to output perfectly structured files, Burton & Company LLC is not legally or financially responsible for any software crashes, material loss, or equipment damage (such as 3D printer failures, CNC routing issues, or laser cutter errors) that may occur while using our files. You use our files at your own risk.
5. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, U.S.A., without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal disputes will be handled in that jurisdiction.
